In collaboration with the Vancouver Art Gallery, the original hipster haven, Ace Hotel, has created a pop up shop for the Grand Hotel: Redesigning Modern Life exhibition – a survey of historical and modern hotel designs and their impacts on society.
The shop, embedded directly in the first floor gallery space, features many of Ace’s in-house-designed Atelier Ace goods and fun, hotel-themed souvenirs like clothing, notebooks and reusable tote bags emblazoned with famous Ace Hotel addresses and catchphrases like “people come and go” (… and nothing ever happpens,” inspired by the classic film, Grand Hotel). Pieces designed exclusively for the VAG exhibition include T-shirts and totes bearing Vancouver’s motto: “By sea, land, and air we prosper.” Of course, all items are sourced from producers and designers throughout the Pacific Northwest region including Portland’s Pearl+ Luxury Soap and Vancouver’s own Wings + Horns. – Jordan Dyck
The exhibition and pop-up shop is open now until Sep 15.
