We asked six wedding caterers (and one bartender!) to dish on their signature dishes and serving style.
Catering can easily eat up (pardon the pun) the largest part of your wedding budget—so you’ll want to make sure you’re making a good investment. With the help of local wedding planners, we found some of the best wedding caterers in the city, asking them to dish on their prices, signature dishes and cooking style. Read on to find out if one of them is a good match for you!
Starting Price$150.00 per person, inclusive of menu, service staff, rentals, gratuities and taxes. The menu may include four trays of passed hors d’oeuvres, a two- or three-course family-style dinner (includes two salads to start, a pasta or risotto course, and a duo of proteins and assorted sides), as well as coffee, tea and an infused water station.Signature DishOne of our signature dishes that we like to serve is a minestrone soup. It’s a little more refined than your normal minestrone, and features a spinach-ricotta tortelloni, tomato parmesan consommé and shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. We do this as a starter for a plated dinner, and the presentation is beautiful.Catering StyleWe like to think the style of our food is abundant, refined and effortlessly elegant. We’re farm-to-table—even though it’s become an overused cliché. We like local, we like made-from-scratch, and we like vibrant and healthy. And best of all, we like seasonal.
Starting Price$40 per person, plus all rentals and staff.Signature DishOne of our favourite dishes that customers always request is our line-caught B.C. sablefish with wilted kale and Asian slaw, served with a wasabi miso emulsion.Catering StyleWe would describe our food style as elegant, local fare made with skill and technique.
Starting Price$55 per person. We provide all necessary staffing and rentals for food and beverage service, which is priced separately, and has a number of variable factors such as venue, duration of the event, service style, etc.Signature DishOne of our favourite custom-menu items this summer has been a fresh summer salad featuring charred beets and burrata, pickled shallots, blackberries and caramelized honey dressing.Catering StyleOur menus have classical French undertones with a West Coast style and sophisticated presentation. We also enjoy working on custom projects that allow us to be a bit more fun and playful.

Starting Price$50 per plate for a plated dinner that includes two canapés, a salad course, and an entrée with a meat and vegetarian option. For buffet/family-style, it includes two canapés, salad, meat, vegetables and two sides.Signature DishOne dish that we absolutely love is our cedar-and-lavender-brined chicken. The overnight cedar and lavender brine infuses so much flavour and keeps the chicken beautifully moist.Catering StyleThe best way to describe our food is bold, authentic flavours. We try to keep things local and West Coast, but we also love incorporating authentic spices and ingredients from different cultures that are available at our fingertips here in Vancouver. We love when we can impress a bride or groom by capturing essential flavours from favourite family dishes.
Starting PriceWe create our menus based on what’s in season, so they’re often custom, which allows us to be flexible and work within almost any budget. Our basic catering services offer food and event staffing, but we can assist with arranging rentals, scouting the perfect venue, and even suggesting other great vendors to make your wedding day a success.Signature DishOne of our most popular and unique dishes is the Forage vegetable garden. This dish is served family-style and is comprised of a selection of seasonal vegetables—raw, fire roasted and pickled—accompanied by whipped fromage frais, wild greens and our famous edible, wild mushroom soil. Not only is this dish delicious, it’s also a real treat for the eyes.Catering StyleForage Catering is all about locally sourced, sustainable food. We use seasonal ingredients from local suppliers and truly embody the farm-to-table concept, but with a touch of elegance. Our focus is on family-style meals, which allow our guests to engage with the food and one another.
Starting Price$50 per guest, but that does not include rentals, staff, gratuity or tax.Signature DishFor a plated, multi-course dinner option, my favourite would be our Dungeness crab cakes with white gazpacho, chilli oil, chive oil, grapes and avocado. Our crab cakes are pan fried and topped with a squeeze of lemon.Catering StyleWe love big, bold flavours. Our food is quite eclectic, with predominately Asian, French and Mediterranean influences. We are passionate, if not obsessed, with making sure that our food is one of the highlights of every wedding we cater.
Starting Price$40.00 per hour. We provide professional bartenders for each event and they bring with them a bartender’s kit. In this kit are all the materials needed to create just about any cocktail on the spot. We also have clients who want a bar menu of wine and beer. We can include everything from glassware, ice, non-alcoholic ingredients for mocktails and signature cocktails, to just a bartender or server for your event.Signature DrinkFor her: Bella Rosa (Bitterhouse DaMan liqueur, Amaro Montenegro, lemon juice, strawberries, sage leaves and Prosecco). For him: Old and New (Hennessy cognac, Rittenhouse rye, Sazerac bitters, flamed absinthe and lemon oil).Bartending StyleOur style of service is adaptable to any event—from fun, vibrant, young or formal, to avant garde. We assist our clients with a complete plan of their bar, including aesthetics, how much liquor to purchase, liquor license questions, creating signature cocktails, to the execution of all the planning. We cater to the client’s style and help them find the perfect fit of what is the best for their event.
