The 1,800-square-foot café sets up shop on the Granville strip—here's what to expect.
Not every restaurateur would be bold enough to open three new locations over the course of a year, but Railtown Cafe‘s Dan Olson and Tyler Day have ignored convention, much to the delight of the city’s lunchtime crowd.Since the beginning of 2017, they’ve set up shop in Olympic Village and on Howe Street (their original Railtown room launched in 2012), and now the doors are open at 429 Granville Street to serve up artisan breads and made-to-order soups and salads. The new counter-service room follows a similar design philosophy (developed by Coralyn Buss of Mallen Gowing Berzins Architecture) to the other Railtown Cafe locales, featuring those signature red chairs, rustic millwork from reclaimed wood, concrete and Italian marble; simple graphics and signage from artist Shugo Nakamura add a DIY vibe.Want to get a sneak peek at the new room, which opens today? Take a look below!
