Special Italian dinner celebrates our local, seasonal bounty.
Vancouver’s vastly overstated grudge against Toronto (we should simply content ourselves with our superiority and move on) is of no interest to local chef Robert Belcham. His Italian-themed restaurants, Campagnolo and Campagnolo Roma, are showcases for the region’s bounty—from meats to vegetables to wines—and his regard for community extends to the restaurant industry itself, which he considers an all-for-one mission among those who strive to respect suppliers, the environment, and, by extension, diners.Thursday night (June 26), Belcham welcomes into Campagnolo’s kitchen Basilio Pesce, of the acclaimed Porzia in Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood. The two chef-entrepreneurs will be combining their talents for Fratello (Italian for “brother”), a one-time-only meal. The five-course dinner, served family style at communal tables, highlights local and seasonal ingredients, including radishes from UBC Farm, 50-day dry-aged loin of Berkshire pork, B.C. cherries, and much more.Tickets are $100 (plus ticket fee and GST), and include beverage pairings plus a cocktail reception. Capacity is limited to 60, so snap yours up rapidamente here.FratelloThursday, June 26, 6:30pmCampagnolo, 1020 Main St., 604-484-6018
