Telus demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability with an epic sculpture of glass.

With its reflective cantilevered workspaces that hover above the sidewalks of West Georgia and Seymour, it’s safe to say the Telus Garden office tower is one of the most futuristic additions to the Vancouver skyline. The mobile giant celebrated the opening of their new office block—though that seems an understatement—with project partners Westbank Project Corp., City of Vancouver, and Henriquez Partners Architects yesterday with the launch of the first substantial office tower in Canada built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum standards.Built to new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum standards, the astoundingly-green technology includes a rainwater capture system that recycles rainwater for gray water and irrigation; a community garden tended by team members that will yield organic produce for local charities, and Vancouver’s largest solar panel system.The building also incorporates a 53-floor residential tower located on the corner of Robson and Richards, which is targeted for completion in early 2016.Telus Garden, 510 West Georgia StreetTelusgarden.com

Telus Garden is home to Vancouver’s first cantilevered office spaces above city sidewalks, whichenhance the office building’s design while maximizing the use of vertical space.

Previously a parking lot and an aging low-rise retail space, the Telus Garden development has transformed the city block between Robson, Seymour, Georgia and Richards into one of the most technologically innovative and environmentally sustainable sites in North America.

A ventilation system supplies fresh air, rather than the recycled air typical of towers.

288 solar panels will produce approximately 65,000 kilowatt hours a year, lighting theexterior of the building.
