The bum’s rush

These jeans may act like yoga pants, but they walk and talk like hot pants.

These jeans may act like yoga pants, but they walk and talk like hot pants.

It’s a curious thing when there’s an army of beauty products out there to lift, sculpt, and contour our skin but scant few fashion options to lift, sculpt and contour everywhere else. Clothes that perform these miraculous feats tend to fall into a category that feels decidedly more matronly and elasticized-waist-like (often with the word ‘miracle’ thrown in, i.e. the Miraclesuit, the Miracle Bra). So, when you come across rare threads that can perform miracles with serious design street cred thrown in, you stand up and take note (with perkier bum to boot). And it’s not surprising that miracles would come from Italian designer Adriano Goldschmied, that de facto godfather of denim and creator of Diesel, Gap 1969, and now director of men’s Citizens of Humanity.AG’s Farrah Skinny 360 Contour Hideout is a high-rise skinny jean with a narrow leg for a perfectly elongated, streamlined fit. Engineered to move like no other denim, they lift and sculpt your behind but are still so stretchy that you could seriously do a yoga class in them (or ballet, see video below) all while they retain their shape (no baggy knees, no sags), the holy grail of jean pursuits. No matter how many times you wear them, you’ll feel like you’re wearing comfy pyjamas…without, of course, looking like you’re wearing pyjamas.I’ve been known to wear mine (in Midnight Blue) for a good week in a row (or more while travelling) and they look as crisp on Day 7 as they do on Day 1. They’re a workhorse of a pant, but come off elegant and upscale (unlike Lululemon pants, you can wear these to the grocery store and to office meetings). They’re not cheap ($290), but just as you shell out for transformative skin cream, you’ll want to shell out for these.AG Farrah Skinny 360 Contour Hideout ($290) available at Nordstrom, 799 Robson St., 604-699-2900; Nordstrom.cahttps://vimeo.com/99369716
