We found seven local restaurants that will be serving traditional (and not-so-traditional) holiday meals.

Making Christmas dinner is a labour of love: the turkey needs to be stuffed and roasted, the potatoes need to be mashed and the cranberry sauce needs to be pried from its tin can. And though there’s something to be said about hosting a grand feast for your family and friends, we understand that it’s nice to let someone else (a.k.a. the seven Vancouver restaurants listed below) do the work.

1. Hawksworth

Stop by Hawksworth to try their holiday tasting menu ($98). Available December 23 to December 30, the 5-course meal includes pan roasted scallops with foraged mushrooms and smoked cauliflower, beef neck cavatelli pasta and Fraser Valley pheasant with parsnip, mint and foie gras jus. 801 West Georgia Street, hawksworthrestaurant.com.

2. Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar

There are more than 20 dishes to choose from on Boulevard’s 4-course Christmas dinner menu ($88). Try the classic slow roast turkey with pine nut, apricot and brioche stuffing or indulge in West Coast dishes like the Sawmill Bay oyster appetizer and the wild salmon entrée served with roasted sunchokes, caramelized Brussels sprouts and beurre rouge. 845 Burrard Street, boulevardvancouver.ca.

3. Bauhaus

The seasonal menus at this contemporary German restaurant often showcase modern European fare and the 4-course Christmas Eve dinner ($100), beginning with butter poached lobster and ending with an eggnog and apple nougat parfait, is no exception. 1 West Cordova, bauhaus-restaurant.com.

4. Forage

On December 24 and December 25, Forage will be serving a festive family style Christmas dinner ($60) of grilled kale salad with Golden Ears brie, roasted Fraser Valley turkey with maple apple chutney and sticky toffee pudding with ginger eggnog ice cream (reservations are required). 1300 Robson Street, foragevancouver.com.

5. Yew Seafood and Bar

The roast turkey dish from Yew’s Christmas dinner menu ($105), served with buttermilk whipped potatoes, Brussels sprouts, chestnut stuffing and honey glazed carrots, has a distinctly homemade feel to it. Not in the mood for turkey? Try the pan seared sablefish or veal tenderloin with bourbon squash tortellini and crispy sweet breads. 791 West Georgia Street, yewseafood.com.

6. Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has a complete lineup of Christmas menus, including an afternoon tea, brunch and dinner buffets, and a Turkey-to-Go service ($375). If you want to impress your dinner guests without doing any of the work, pick up a complete meal (Fraser Valley turkey, sage and sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes and spiced pumpkin pie) that you can serve at home. 900 West Georgia Street, fairmont.com.

7. Cibo Trattoria

This year, Cibo Trattoria will be hosting a “Feast of Seven Fishes” ($89)—an Italian Christmas Eve meal. Each of the seven courses (including octopus terrine, fish stew and salt cod fritters) pay homage to traditional Italian flavours, giving guest a taste of the old country. 900 Seymour Street, cibotrattoria.com.
