We've had a few weeks where silver linings have been hard to come by (err, I guess I'm saving money on all the gas I'm not buying). And now we're faced with another storm system approaching. But thankfully this is just the old fashioned non-atmospheric river type of storm. And here's the silver lining—it's also the type of storm which deposits snow, up to 20cm, for Whistler's opening day.
It was a tough year for the resort last year. The reservation system deterred some people, the number of skiers were limited and staffing was...tricky. But there were moments of sublime glory too...bluebird days with seemingly no on else on the gill, lift lines feeling like they were a thing of the past.
Staffing is still tricky, but the reservation system is now gone for skiing (you'll still need it for on-hill dining but capacity will be much higher). And by all accounts this has the chance to be a monster year for snow. And both Edge Cards and Epic Passes are only on sale until December 5, after that you're looking at day passes.
