As If Batch Wasn’t Fun Enough: DownLow Chicken Is Joining the Party at Kits Beach

The licensed Kits Beach concession stand and patio will now feature eats from the beloved chicken joint.

If you read our Reasons to Love Vancouver issue, you already know we’ve got a big crush on the Kitsilano location of Batch, the bar that popped up at the Kitsilano Pool concession stand last summer. It turned into the neighbourhood’s hottest place to grab a drink, transforming the bare patio overlooking the Showboat into a buzzy, sunset-lit place to see and be seen post-swim.
It’s not just that the bar features tons of local beers, canned cocktails and wines—grabbing a drink here is extra special because of how surprisingly cool the experience is. A casual waterfront bar? Operating out of an old concession stand? Sanctioned by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation? We never thought we’d see the day.
This year, the Parks Board celebrates one year of Actually Being Chill For Once by upping the ante with new concession offerings from DownLow Chicken and a 60-seat expansion of the licensed patio.
Batch has been fairly quiet since Labour Day, opening up on bluebird weekends throughout the spring, but starting today, it’ll be open daily from 3 p.m. ’til 10. Like last summer, live music, charmingly scrappy seating and twinkling string lights will be there to set the mood—and now we can enjoy these fine offerings alongside DL classic offerings like the OG Sando and DL tenders keep bellies full.

Special new options like burritos, Waygu hot dogs and all-beef burgers will all be made with locally sourced products—and presumably be as delicious as both the chicken and those tasty Kits Beach views.
See you at the beach!
