Welcome to 24 Days of Beer, in which we guide you through what might be a very dark month. Aren’t you glad we’re here to tell you what to drain your sorrows with?

Nineteen is my favourite number (obligatory Joe Sakic shoutout). I'm also part of a iPhone message thread called "Vanilla Boys" (not kidding) which was meant to note our collective fondness for the flavour over things like chocolate and strawberry, but also very much works as a non-intentional skewering of us as 30-year-old white males.

So that's two reasons I was excited for this offering from the experimental branch of 33 Acres. The third is that I quite enjoy nitro stouts when they are done right—creamy, decently heavy and not too watery.

The result? A pretty good beer. Nothing mind-blowing, but a very nice nitro beer (that does dip into watery territory a tiny, tiny bit. It does have a very nice vanilla finish and remains quite sessionable, so it's definitely a serviceable winter beer from 33 Acres.

It seems as if they're only offering it in the brewery and not in cans, however. If you are looking for a seasonally appropriate beer from 33 Acres that you can get in bottles and cans, you could do a lot worse than 33 Acres of Darkness. Long my favourite beer from the brewery, it's a very drinkable choice for the holidays.
