Menu items from the 1920s return to the menu in honour of White Spot's 90th anniversary.
It’s White Spot‘s 90th anniversary this year—which means we’ve been wiping Triple O sauce off our chins for close to a century now. Time flies, huh? Maybe it’s a chain (there are 65 locations across BC and Alberta and counting), but it’s our chain, damn it, so this summer, we’re skipping the cool kid artisinal burger joints of Gastown in favour of the all-Canadian comfort food classics gracing the special limited edition menu.Though the Spot made it’s name through burgs (and, let’s be honest, pirate packs), it actually started out as a BBQ chicken restaurant. That’s why, as part of their limited-time menu, executive chef Danny Markowicz and his team decided to bring back some of the classics from their poultry days with an added twist. If you dig deep in those memory banks, you might remember the famous “Chicken in the Straw” dish from 1928: until July 15, you’ll have a chance to try the crispy battered quarter chicken served with creamy coleslaw on a “nest” of signature Kennebec fries again, along with two other special chicken menu items.Feeling hungry yet? The gang here at Vancouver magazine wants to help you out. Fill out the form below by July 10 for a chance to win a $90 gift card to the White Spot location of your choice. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkGrfHAF3cG/?hl=en&taken-by=whitespot_restaurants
