Three of Vancouver's top salons share their favourite fall hairstyles.
The changing seasons call for a change in coif. VanMag talked to stylists at Suki’s, Trim Hair Salon, and Aveda‘s new Civello to learn about their favourite looks for fall. (Photo: Suki’s Artistic Team.)
This hairstyle is Suki stylist James Valiant’s fall pick. “The long bob, or lob, is huge right now,” which Valiant says can be styled straight and sexy, wavy or natural. “It is universally flattering on all face shapes and hair types,” he says, “and adding highlights and balayage will give movement to the cut and an all-over colour will add a super graphic edge to it.” (Photo: Christine Pienaar.)
Aveda’s new Civello (now with two salons in Vancouver) points to the hot runway trend that embraces natural curls and waves with a textured short cut. How to make the most of it? Define curls and tame frizz with curl coaxing products and a texturizing spray. (Photo: Bridgette Pysh.)
This hair trend was picked by Jocelyn Cooper, one of the stylists at the Main Street’s Trim Hair Salon. “Soft blonding techniques have been honed over the past few years and the balayage/ombre effect has never looked better,” says Cooper. If you’re looking for a chic, low-maintenance colour, then look no more, explains Cooper. “Adding golden, copper or auburn tones can warm it up for the fall. It should be getting re-touched every three-to-six months (depending on a person’s tolerance for roots).”
