Is There a Distinctly “Vancouver” Watch?
Let me see you do the crawl.
Welcome to 24 Days of Beer, in which we guide you through what might be a very dark month. Aren’t you glad we’re here to tell you what to drain your sorrows with?
A previous edition of Deep Cove’s The Crawl Stout had a guitar on the label and invoked Spirit of the West. We think the new and current version, while remaining deliciously creamy and very drinkable, is also more aptly designed.
This one boasts a beautiful can showcasing glow-in-the-dark turtles at the bottom of the ocean. And who doesn’t love turtles? From Franklin to those chill dudes in Finding Nemo, they’re about as safe it gets when it comes to co-opting a mascot.
One time I was asked what animal I’d like to be, and my brother chastised me for saying the apparently “obvious” choice of a turtle. He was sorta right, I was definitely playing to the crowd. (My answer these days is an owl, for those curious.)
Anyway the North Van brewery encourages the drinker to enjoy life “at a crawl.” And sure yeah, that’s good advice and everything, but it really hits different in a year that has seemingly taken forever.
We should be like the turtles and just learn to enjoy it, one supposes. Hey, this beer definitely helps.
