More than 30 local designers are converging in Mount Pleasant to offer deep discounts on sustainably crafted goods.
Sure, Boxing Day and Black Friday are fine and dandy, but in Vancouver, there’s another deeply discounted shopping day that you should, nay, must have marked on your calendar: Nifty for Fifty.
Unfamiliar?Basically, the delightfully dubbed event is exactly what its name vaguelysuggests: it gives Vancouverites the opportunity to look nifty for 50 bucks—orless. More specifically, it’s a one-day shopping event that brings together abevy of the region’s most talented indie designers, so that you, dear reader, can nab sustainably produced clothing, jewellery and accessories for anaffordable price.
This year’s 12th annual sale features more than 30 designers, who will be hawking everything from comfy yoga-wear and hand-blown glass earrings to reusable food pouches and handmade pottery. New additions include Ebb and Flow, which produces a range of delicate sea-glass bling; Revol Girl, makers of inclusive period-proof undies; and Nostalgic Links, which crafts fun vintage-inspired cuff links.
Everything,of course, will be priced for $50 or less.
