When two award-winning chefs invite you to their special dining event on Salt Spring, it'd be rude not to go, right?
With a number of West Coast restaurants highlighting the farm-to-table approach, concepts surrounding seasonality, freshness, sustainability and supporting local farms have become more important than ever—and diners are loving it.Enter the Late Summer Harvest Dinner. Osteria Savio Volpe Chef/Co-owner Mark Perrier and Farmer’s Apprentice Chef/Owner David Gunawan are co-hosting this very farm-to-fork feast on September 30 with organic farming pioneer Michael Ableman at the Salt Spring Island’s Foxglove Farm (it doesn’t get more local than that). From left: David Gunawan, Mark Perrier and Michael Ableman. Both restaurants have won their share of awards: you may remember Savio Volpe taking Vancouver magazine’s Best New Restaurant for 2017 and Farmer’s Apprentice taking Vancouver magazine’s Restaurant of the Year for 2014. Pair that together with Foxglove Farm, one of British Columbia’s finest organic farms (and a preferred supplier of both chefs), and it makes this a meal you won’t want to miss.
