The solution to a long, hot summer day? An endless supply of food and music.
It wouldn’t be summer in B.C. without food trucks and live music. On Saturday, July 29, the Downtown New West BIA will be hosting the 5th annual Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Festival, the largest one-day food truck fest in Canada. With more than 150 food vendors, six beer gardens, and live music curated by the Art Council of New Westminster, it’s the perfect way to while away a hot afternoon (because it’s all sunshine and clear skies in the forecast this weekend!).
Mogu will be on site serving Japanese street food (think pork katsu burgers and chicken karage).Unleash your inner foodie by chowing down on some Japanese-inspired street food at Mogu, seize some souvlaki at Carte Diem, and cool yourself with an ice cream waffle taco from Rain or Shine Ice Cream. If these don’t suit your fancy, there’s also Chouchou Crepes, Fusion Icy, Taco Kwon Do (Mexican-Asian fusion food? Yes please!), and much, much more. Whether you’re looking to eat Greek, Malaysian, Indian, or Slavic cuisine, this food festival has seemingly limitless options to choose from.
Rain or Shine’s ice cream tacos are the perfect cool treat for a hot summer day. When you’re finished with the food and music, swing by the Artisan Market to peruse through a wide range of handmade crafts and jewellery, or check out the brand new Style Hive, where you can shop for summer wardrobe essentials at Mila and Paige, beer merch at Steel and Oak and chic accessories at the Vancouver Fashion Truck. You’ll also have the opportunity to browse the produce stands at New West Farmers Market and say hello to many of the local business who will be on site. What are you waiting for?
