Serving the irresistible flavours of French and Vietnamese cuisine, Linh Café is expanding to a new location this August
Linh Café’s mouth-water menu is about to get easier than ever to experience as the Vancouver favourite opens a second location on Granville Street.
But this is not a fusion restaurant. The menu features a delectable combination of traditional French and Vietnamese cooking, serving both cuisines in one place.
Delight in some of the restaurant’s favourite French dishes, like mussels in a creamy white wine sauce with fresh herbs, or escargot baked perfectly with tomato and garlic butter. Or try Phở Bò, with braised beef flank and rice noodles to experience the fresh and delicious taste of classic Vietnamese.
Linh Café’s owner Tai Nguyen cultivated a passion for cooking when he was given the responsibility of buying groceries at the market and cooking dinner for his family in the town where he was born in Vietnam.
In 2001, Tai made a life changing decision move to Vancouver where he developed a love for French cuisine.
His experience was enriched at the award-winning French restaurant L’Emotion (West Vancouver), where he worked under the tutelage of Executive Chef Jean-Yves Benoit. He further apprenticed at the renowned French restaurant La Régalade in West Vancouver before moving onto Mistral French Bistro in Kitsilano, where he reunited with Chef Benoit.
In 2011, Tai rejoined Café Régalade with Steeve Rayé in Kitsilano, and ayear later he joined Chef Thierry Busset’s team at Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie Cafe to further his pastry skills.
In creating Linh Café, Tai merged the two loves of his life—French foods and his family—naming the café after his wife, Linh. Tai’s dream is to create an unpretentious, casual, family style restaurant, serving authentic country style French cuisine with a twist of Vietnamese cuisine. He believes that good things are made up of simple pleasures. For Tai, there is great value in doing simple jobs with love and precision.
“Every ingredient, every process—I take it seriously,” he says. “No cutting corners.”
Tai’s philosophy is to balance work and family, and he believes that is the way to be consistent in the long term.
Linh Café is open without restrictions and it pleased to announce its new location opening in August. Enjoy a casual meal with friends or consider Linh Café for any private function from business meetings to birthdays and anniversaries. Its incredible menu offers a range of options, and the team can tailor-make a list of options for group events that suits individual needs.
